Jumbo Wins Citra Award and Breaks New Record for Indonesian Animation Industry

Ryan Adriandhy’s animated film, Jumbo, achieved significant success by winning the 2025 Citra Award for Best Feature-Length Animated Film at the Indonesian Film Festival (FFI). This success marked a significant milestone for the Indonesian animation industry, especially as Jumbo reached over 10 million moviegoers a previously unimaginable achievement for a local animated film.

In the 2025 FFI competition, Jumbo competed against two other animated films: Panji Tengkorak by Daryl Wilson and Warkop DKI Kartun, directed by Rako Prijanto and Daryl Wilson. This victory demonstrates that Indonesian animation is increasingly valued and capable of competing on the national stage.

Jumbo’s Victory Expands Indonesian Animation Celebration

In his remarks at the Jakarta Theater, Taman Ismail Marzuki, Ryan Adriandhy expressed his gratitude and pride for Jumbo’s achievement. He emphasized that the award was not just a personal triumph, but an important step towards increasing public appreciation and appreciation for animated films.

According to Ryan, Jumbo is expected to foster empathy and provide a broader emotional experience for audiences. He also appreciated the presence of several other animated films participating in this year’s FFI, such as Warkop DKI Kartun and Panji Tengkorak.

Breaking a New Record: Jumbo Becomes the Highest-Grossing Indonesian Film of All Time

Jumbo’s achievements don’t stop at the FFI award. This Visinema Studios production is now officially the highest-grossing Indonesian film of all time, reaching 10 million viewers in just 60 days of release.

This achievement surpasses the previous record, set by the film KKN di Desa Penari (KKN di Desa Penari) (2022), which took over 90 days to reach the same number of viewers. This success demonstrates the immense potential of Indonesian animated films and their ability to capture a broad audience.

Jumbo’s success also confirms that animation is not just a genre for children, but rather a form of art that can reach a wide audience.
